Furnace Operator - Titanium Aerospace Parts Manufacturing

Primary Purpose:
Responsible to operate and maintain titanium casting furnace to produce castings or ingots.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates and maintains titanium casting furnace.
- MIG weld electrodes to be used for the casting process.
- Complete all tracking and documentation as required.
- Adhere to all department and company procedures and policies.
- Load molds in burnout ovens.
- Train casting helpers.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Participate in safety improvement through observations and teamwork improvement events.
- Be accountable for working safely by following all safety rules and safe work practices.
- Meets established production rates consistent with quality expectations.
- Assists with general departmental clean-up which may include sweeping and shoveling of debris.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Able to perform basic arithmetic.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Production operation experience preferred.
- MIG Welding experience helpful.
- Must be able to use and understand basic computer functions.
- HS diploma or equivalent GED required, but candidates not meeting this requirement who possesses relevant experience will be considered.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment background check.
- Must be willing to participate in pre-employment and periodic drug screening.
- Must take a base line hearing test prior to starting.
Working Conditions:
- The job is performed under reasonably good working conditions with some exposure to, noise, temperature, and machinery.

Weekend grave shift - $2.50/hour shift differential

Job Summary:
Perform all required duties related to the chemical analysis, tests and investigations on metal samples, alloys, or other process materials for the purpose of product certification, metallurgical control, developing new or improved grades and types of alloys, or production methods. Perform all required duties related to the prep of samples for chemical analysis and other tests.
Essential Job Functions/Duties:
- Operation of all lab instrumentation.
- Ability to produce product certifications and perform alloy identification of samples using the lab equipment.
- Ability to recognize results that fall outside of allowable specification ranges.
- Ability to trouble shoot and identify cause(s) of equipment malfunctions, with the ability to repair such malfunctions when possible.
- Aids in managing/maintaining all data, forms, reports, testing, and communications, as directed by the appropriate work instruction.
- Aids in creation of and maintenance of procedures that meet the requirements of NADCAP, AS9100, ISO17025, and all other required OEM accreditations.
- Maintains test samples and record keeping for all master heats of alloy.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, customer specifications, industry standards, quality control documents and work instructions.
- Participate and perform round robin testing both internal and external.
- Properly maintain the testing equipment used in the lab.
- Perform report-writing duties for issuing to customers for work performed in the Materials lab (Alloy qualifications, etc.)
- Responsible for adherence to all safety policies, practices and procedures.
- Ability to work hours in addition to the regular work week, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Attendance/Reliability
- Ability to work at the Chittenango facility
- Various other duties as assigned by Supervision
Qualifications:
- Education: A minimum of a high school diploma with a good mathematical and chemical background. AS in Material Science or Chemistry preferred.
- Experience: Familiarity with the casting industry and related materials lab processes/equipment desirable.

- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Managers, clients, and customers.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of and ability to use Database software; Internet software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Materials Lab Technician:
Pay: $25.09/hr but will be evaluated depending on candidates’ knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Job Summary:
Perform all required duties related to the chemical analysis, tests and investigations on metal samples, alloys, or other process materials for the purpose of product certification, metallurgical control, developing new or improved grades and types of alloys, or production methods. Perform all required duties related to the prep of samples for chemical analysis and other tests.
Essential Job Functions/Duties:
- Operation of all lab instrumentation.
- Ability to produce product certifications and perform alloy identification of samples using the lab equipment.
- Ability to recognize results that fall outside of allowable specification ranges.
- Ability to trouble shoot and identify cause(s) of equipment malfunctions, with the ability to repair such malfunctions when possible.
- Aids in managing/maintaining all data, forms, reports, testing, and communications, as directed by the appropriate work instruction.
- Aids in creation of and maintenance of procedures that meet the requirements of NADCAP, AS9100, ISO17025, and all other required OEM accreditations.
- Maintains test samples and record keeping for all master heats of alloy.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, customer specifications, industry standards, quality control documents and work instructions.
- Participate and perform round robin testing both internal and external.
- Properly maintain the testing equipment used in the lab.
- Perform report-writing duties for issuing to customers for work performed in the Materials lab (Alloy qualifications, etc.)
- Responsible for adherence to all safety policies, practices and procedures.
- Ability to work hours in addition to the regular work week, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Attendance/Reliability
- Ability to work at the Chittenango facility
- Various other duties as assigned by Supervision
Qualifications:
- Education: A minimum of a high school diploma with a good mathematical and chemical background. AS in Material Science or Chemistry preferred.
- Experience: Familiarity with the casting industry and related materials lab processes/equipment desirable.
Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Managers, clients, and customers.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of and ability to use Database software; Internet software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

SUMMARY
To coordinate, prepare and ship outgoing alloy ensuring all required procedures are followed and related testing, inspection and paperwork is accurate and complete. Review of the alloy melt plan provided by the Production Planning Manager to determine new finished good item requirements. The position incumbent will also be responsible for activation of finished good Items and job creation as required by the alloy melt plan schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creation and maintenance of Oracle finished goods Master Items, Bills of Materials and Routings to ensure timely and accurate cost and processing instructions.
- Review customer purchase orders to determine specific item requirements relative to alloy specification, diameter and revert ratio as well as special alloy advance sampling requirements.
- Coordinate and prioritize alloy through operations as determined by customer order promise dates and site inventory needs.
- Analysis of customer inquiries for the purpose of providing Sales sufficient information necessary for quotation compatible with SMM manufacturing capabilities, and capacity restrictions.
- Implementation of modifications to orders in process resulting from both internal and/or customer generated changes. WIP material reviewed for process compatibility relative to change request.
- Routinely review and update manufacturing order status to ensure appropriate application and scheduling is in line with maximizing internal constraints as well as internal sales requirements.
- Contract review: Review customer purchase orders relative to freight terms, packing requirements, shipping/receiving windows and carrier requirements.
- Perform Oracle shipping transactions for sales recognition.
- Coordinate securement of freight carriers/forwarders as required by weekly/monthly/quarterly sales plans.
- Develop and maintain daily shipping reports to communicate weekly priorities to manufacturing.
- Determine casting revert requirements and communicate demand to the SMM casting sites ensuring corresponding paperwork is complete and accurate.
