Global Banking & Markets - Private Dept-Relationship Lending Group — Senior Associate / Vice President Dallas
Goldman Sachs
dallas, tx
Compensation: 180.000 - 240.000

The Opportunity

At Goldman Sachs, the Relationship Lending Group (RLG) serves as a fundamental step in the firm's approach to the relationship-based lending business. By underwriting, structuring, executing, and advising on a wide array of transactions that require the firm's capital commitment, RLG ensures the smooth facilitation of financial solutions ranging from unsecured and secured revolvers — including asset-based lending (ABL), borrowing base, and reserve-based lending (RBL) facilities — to term loans, bridge loans, delayed draw term loans, and letter of credit facilities. These transactions span primary loan syndication, refinancing, amendments, secondary market purchases, and bilateral lending.

Job Description

Collaboration is central to the RLG role; team members will regularly coordinate with other banks' syndication desks, clients/borrowers, external legal counsel, and a broad spectrum of internal teams such as Investment Banking, Investment Grade Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Legal, and Credit Risk Management.

We are specifically seeking a senior member of the team with extensive knowledge of and background in the Natural Resources sector — including energy, oil & gas (upstream, midstream, downstream), power and renewables, metals and mining, and related industries — to help deepen the group's sector expertise and support the firm's natural resources client franchise.

We are looking for a Senior Associate/Vice President who is commercially minded, technically sharp, and ready to take ownership of the front-to-back execution process. You will serve as a senior member of the team — helping to drive transactions from inception to close, serving as a resource to junior members of the team, and acting as a trusted point of contact for internal partners and external counterparties alike.

Responsibilities

  • Drive deal execution: Support the structuring, underwriting, and closing of relationship-based lending transactions — including revolving credit facilities, asset-based lending (ABL), borrowing base and reserve-based lending (RBL) facilities, term loans, delayed draw term loans, bridge financings, and letter of credit facilities — across primary syndication, refinancings, amendments, and bilateral lending, with particular emphasis on Natural Resources sector transactions.
  • Leadership on Transactions: Manage multiple simultaneous deals at various stages, coordinating across Investment Banking coverage teams, Investment Grade Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Legal, and Credit Risk Management. You will be expected to identify and resolve issues proactively, escalating significant matters to senior management with clear recommendations.

Director, Assistant General Counsel - Financial Services Legal Team (Hybrid)
Capital One
plano, tx
Compensation: 210.000 - 239.000

Director, Assistant General Counsel - Financial Services Legal Team (Hybrid)

As a Director on the Financial Services Legal Team, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major challenges and significant business initiatives as a member of Capital One’s Financial Services ("FS") Division. Capital One’s FS Division is a leader and pioneer in the auto finance and technology industries, specializing in the delivery of AI, machine learning, and other tech-enabled products and solutions. You will serve in a key role supporting and advising the business in our pursuit to dream, disrupt, and deliver solutions for consumers, dealers, and partners. As a member of the FS Legal Team, you will partner with a passionate and customer-centric business that is fueling the future of one of the nation’s largest indirect auto finance companies. Within this role, you’ll be a true counselor to the business and have the opportunity to advise the best sales team in the industry as well as leaders, analysts, product managers, and designers across FS who are tasked with developing innovative strategies and products designed to help Capital One win in the market. This is an opportunity to identify complex risks, solve problems, and help shape dynamic strategies that directly impact our customers and internal business partners. You will build innovative solutions and services, counsel the business on a wide range of issues—from consumer-finance laws and regulations to strategy, data, and risk—all within a highly collaborative environment. We value your insight, encourage you to take on new responsibility, and reward continuous learning and intellectual curiosity, positioning you for an exciting career with a leading player in the financial services industry.

A successful candidate will display:

  • Strong executive communication skills
  • Impeccable written and oral communication credentials
  • Strategic-influencing skills and the ability to drive consensus across diverse teams through exercising sound judgment and employing interpersonal and negotiation capabilities
  • The ability to take complex ideas/problems and break them down into simple and digestible concepts/solutions
  • A successful track record of thriving and leading with heart, hunger, humility, and horsepower in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and dynamic environment

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic Advice: Understanding the auto finance business, technology, and the rapidly evolving landscapes for both, fostering innovation through an understanding of the applicable laws, and charting a course for rolling out, marketing, and selling innovative products where no clear roadmap exists. You’ll drill down into how we do what we do, and why we do what we do, so we can build a better way.
  • Translating: Understanding the law (e.g., data privacy, IP, antitrust, TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, FCRA/Reg V, UDAAP), understanding the business and the auto industry, knowing the technology itself (AI, APIs, OSS, machine learning) and exhibiting an innate desire to learn along with it. You’ll appreciate dynamic business intent, regulatory requirements, and legal guardrails and best practices, fluidly transition between legalese and business speak, and do so comfortably with analysts and senior executives alike.
  • Business Ownership: Working hand‑in‑hand with the business to solve problems in flight. You’ll need an ownership mindset and to view yourself as part of the business team. You don’t need to know everything about everything, but you’ll have a thirst to understand what you’re reading about – a “learning mindset” – that focuses on how to change the world in awesome ways rather than merely reciting statutes and regulations.
  • Partnering to Foster Innovation: Collaborating closely with colleagues across the Legal Department to fully vet and scale risk. You’ll work to push responsible innovation in challenging gray areas. We place a high value on intellectual curiosity, particularly when combined with a “we’ll figure out a way” attitude.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
  • At least 7 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in‑house legal department, or government agency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience advising financial services or technology companies
  • 5+ years of experience working as an attorney on matters related to auto finance, product development, technology, and AI
  • Experience advising companies on matters of regulatory compliance, including UDAAP, the FCRA, GLBA, ECOA, and TILA
  • Ability to work effectively both in teams and independently, make effective and integrated decisions, and collaborate effectively at all levels in the company
  • Ability to deal with ambiguous situations, complex concepts, and details
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence others
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
