Principal Accountabilities

  • Monitor USDA-FSIS regulatory activities and plant compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements while working with both USDA-FSIS inspectors and plant operations personnel
  • Prepare carcasses and product components for inspection by making required cuts and incisions using approved tools and techniques and communicate regularly with USDA-FSIS inspectors to support inspection activities
  • Perform food safety and quality monitoring activities throughout the production process to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory standards
  • Conduct product, process, and sanitation verifications, documenting inspection results, deviations, and corrective actions accurately and completely
  • Perform job duties in a fast-paced, cold, or warm production setting with required PPE while engaging in physical tasks such as standing for long periods of time, climbing, bending, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as requested
  • Follow all safety, food safety, and regulatory policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to work with weights, measurements, and production information
  • Basic knowledge of safe food handling practices

Respiratory equipment includes ventilators, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, and CPAP. The unit uses Philips monitors, and RNs read strips.

Shift & Scheduling: Self-scheduling is allowed. The weekend requirement is 3 weekend shifts per schedule. Holiday requirements apply. No call.

Floating Requirements: The float pool includes Critical Care Unit, Observation, Med Surg, General Surgery, Ortho Surgery, Short Stay Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Telemetry, and Progressive Care.

Unit Details: The ICU Float Cluster includes Tower 2, Tower 4, and 4 Neuro. Tower 2 cares for medical, surgical, and trauma patients. Tower 4 is a cardiothoracic ICU specializing in lung transplants and ECMO. 4 Neuro is a neuro-specific ICU. Telemetry assignments have a 1:4 patient ratio. The ICU areas use all critical drips. Respiratory support includes ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen. The units use GE telemetry equipment.

Shift & Scheduling: Day shifts run 7AM-7:30PM. Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks; weekends are Saturdays and Sundays. Holidays will be required based on unit needs. The schedule is provided 4 weeks in advance and can be changed two weeks in advance based on hospital needs. No call; if placed on standby due to low census, response time is 30 minutes.

Floating Requirements: Will float among all ICU areas and any Med/Surg/Tele units, including sister campuses St. Joseph Westgate in Glendale and AZ General Laveen. Floating assignments cannot be refused. Travelers are expected to function independently when floated to an outside area but are not expected to specialize in everything or take the most acute patients in every area.

Required Skills/Experience: Minimum 2.5 years of recent adult medical/surgical critical care RN experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Teaching hospital experience is preferred. Variety in critical care experience preferred: med/surg, cardiac, neuro. Recent Float Pool, PACU, or Emergency Room experience preferred.

Required Credentials: RNs only: If CA state licensure is 3 months or less from expiration, proof that the renewal process has been initiated is required to apply.

Special Requests: Please submit all RTO at time of offer. RTO sent after the contract is signed will not be considered. Please add RTO time back to the end of the contract.

Unit Details: Adult and geriatric patient population.

Shift & Scheduling: Day/night rotating shifts. Day shift: 07:00 - 19:30. Night shift: 19:00 - 07:30. One schedule cycle (4 weeks) will be either shift, but may switch to the opposite shift in another schedule cycle depending on need. Schedule based on operational need.

Floating Requirements: This is a float pool position, not unit based. Must have the ability to float to other UCSF facilities and other UCSF departments. Ability to float to any UCSF campus, including Parnassus, Mission Bay, or Mount Zion. ICU RNs float to all TCUs and ICUs, ED, and PACU. RNs may float to Acute Care/Tele/TCU units with up to 3:1 assignment. RNs may be assigned to ED for boarded patients or assist with tasks/PACU for boarded patients.

All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment.
