Wayne State College is seeking a collaborative, strategic, and relationship-driven leader to serve as Executive Director of Cooperative Education and Industry Liaison. This position will lead the continued development and growth of the College’s cooperative education effort, the Career Scholars program.

We are looking for someone who can continue to build and maintain the programming, partnerships, and systems associated with Career Scholars. The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between big-picture strategy and hands‑on implementation and will work closely with students, faculty, campus partners, employers, community leaders, and other external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of program leadership, employer and industry engagement, student career development, relationship building, and project management. Nature of Work

The Executive Director of Cooperative Education and Industry Liaison will provide executive, administrative, and analytical support and leadership for the cooperative education program. The Executive Director will be responsible for creating a comprehensive experiential learning program that will include internships, practicums, and student teaching. They will work with industry to identify cooperative education opportunities as well as collaborate with the faculty to develop academic requirements. The Executive Director will identify and prepare students for the cooperative experience by coordinating placement interviews, class presentations, and individual career advising meetings. Preparation includes communicating with students about specific cooperative education requirements including learning and outcome expectations. The Executive Director is also expected to coach students to improve individual learning outcomes such as critical soft skills, interviewing skills, resume writing, professional communication, professional behavior, ethics, and other applicable skills. The Executive Director will be available to support the advisement of students prior to and during cooperative assignments as well as an opportunity for students to reflect about their experiences.

This position will also serve as the contact for business and industry leaders to engage in experiential learning opportunities. This Executive Director position exercises a high level of discretion and independent judgement in matters of significance to perform these duties.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the cooperative education initiatives, specifically, the continued development, implementation, assessment, and growth of the Career Scholars program.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve a scalable model that integrates academic learning, career preparation, employer engagement, and meaningful professional experience.
  • Serve as the industry liaison for the cooperative education program which includes identifying and cultivating strong working relationships with industry managers and human resource units that can provide internships, cooperative education placements, employment opportunities, mentorship, professional development, and other career connected experiences
  • Develop partnerships with faculty and assist with creating learning outcomes for the cooperative education experience.
  • Maintain a current understanding of the industry/field, employers, and positions. Activities to support this endeavor include site visits to new and existing employers and outreach to potential new cooperative education employers via employment development agencies, alumni contacts, professional networking, etc.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of cooperative educational student records.
  • Meet and collaborate with students, faculty, and staff on cooperative education projects. Provide regular reports on student numbers, program progress, and industry or business leads and coordinate with campus partners responsible for recruitment, advising, financial aid, academic programs, student success, housing, and other elements of the Career Scholars experience.
  • Monitor participation, retention, student outcomes, employer engagement, placement, conversion to employment and other measures of program effectiveness.
  • Analyze assessment data and prepare annual reports to aid in evaluation of student progress and program effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive communication plan for the cooperative education program including assisting with development of communication and marketing materials. This includes the preparation of reports, presentations, dashboards, and other materials for institutional leadership, external partners, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide instruction for Fundamentals of Professional Practice program or related courses as appropriate.
  • Conduct site visits to businesses involved in the cooperative education program. Extensive travel will be required to fulfill this responsibility.
  • Represent Wayne State College at employer, workforce, economic‑development, chamber, community, and industry meetings and events.
  • Support the development of sustainable strategies for program growth, employer capacity, geographic expansion, and long‑term funding.
  • Build strong working relationships across academic affairs, student affairs, enrollment management, college relations, and other College divisions.
  • Position will supervise the Assistant Director- Cooperative Education
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent business experience.
  • Minimum of five years of related professional work experience.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and audiences.

Position Summary: The Head of Camp, Basketball serves as the primary point person for the preparation and execution of IMGA camp programming throughout the entire year. This role oversees the day-to-day operations and delivery of basketball camp programs, ensuring a high-quality experience for student-athletes and their families. The position leads coaches and camp staff, manages schedules and staffing needs, and serves as a mentor and educator to camp participants while fostering strong communication and customer service.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the camp programs, managing students, coaches, and programs to maximize the delivery, quality, and overall efficiency

  • Works with Senior Associate AD and Sport Director to ensure staffing ratios are maintained to accommodate program growth, and manages camp program schedules

Director of Social Emotional Learning

This is a New York City based hybrid position which requires a blend of onsite work with schools and district teams across NYC, days at Urban Assembly’s central office in Manhattan’s Financial District, and remote work. The current expectation is that employees work in person at least 2 days per week, with the possibility of additional in-person days based on organizational or team needs. Due to the school-facing nature of this role, this position will regularly require additional in-person days to meet school coaching, program, and partnership responsibilities.

ABOUT THE JOB

Reporting to the Managing Director of Program, the Director of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is responsible for the strategic leadership, execution, growth, and continuous improvement of Urban Assembly's SEL portfolio. This role leads the design and delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based SELprogramming that improves educator practice, student outcomes, and school culture through disciplined implementation, organizational capacity building, and performance management. Working collaboratively across partners and internal teams, the Director develops scalable systems, strengthens strategic partnerships, advances organizational learning, and generates field‑shaping insights that position Urban Assembly as a national leader in social and emotional learning.

The key responsibilities include:

Program Strategy & Execution (30%)

Lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of Urban Assembly's SEL portfolio to achieve measurable implementation, educator, and student outcomes through disciplined strategy, execution, and performance management.

Success in this area includes:

  • Achieve ambitious program outcomes by establishing a culture of execution that defines clear implementation expectations, monitors leading indicators of success, addresses performance gaps in real time, and ensures accountability for achieving measurable implementation, educator, and student outcomes.
  • Design and continuously improve the implementation system by developing and refining implementation frameworks, coaching models, operational routines, performance dashboards, implementation resources, and organizational infrastructure that enable high‑quality, scalable, and sustainable program delivery.
  • Build the capacity of educators and school leaders to implement and sustain high‑quality, evidence‑based SEL practices through coaching, professional learning, technical assistance, and implementation support.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative evidence to drive strategic decision‑making by identifying root causes, evaluating implementation effectiveness, assessing emerging needs, and translating findings into improvements in program design, implementation strategy, products, and service delivery.
  • Cultivate a learning network that identifies, validates, and disseminates effective implementation practices across Urban Assembly partners while ensuring the SEL portfolio remains aligned with organizational priorities and integrated within broader instructional, postsecondary, and Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) initiatives.

Strategic Growth and Portfolio Leadership (35%)

The Director is accountable for the long‑term growth, sustainability, and national expansion of the SEL portfolio by increasing its reach, strengthening its financial sustainability, and building strategic partnerships that advance Urban Assembly's mission.

  • Expand the reach and impact of the SEL portfolio by securing new district, state, and national partnerships that increase the number of schools, educators, and students served.
  • Generate sustainable revenue by securing new grants, contracts, and fee‑for‑service opportunities that contribute at least 10% of the program's annual budget.
  • Maintain a high‑performing partner portfolio by achieving an annual contract renewal and retention rate of at least 85% through strong implementation, relationship management, and demonstrated impact.
  • Develop scalable solutions that extend the reach of the SEL portfolio beyond direct service through products, tools, implementation playbooks, digital platforms, and professional learning models.
  • Represent Urban Assembly as a national thought leader by facilitating contributions to conference presentations, publications, strategic partnerships, and other opportunities that increase awareness, demand, and adoption of UA's SEL solutions.
  • Build and steward a strategic growth pipeline by identifying, cultivating, and advancing opportunities that strengthen the long‑term reach and sustainability of the portfolio.

Research, Learning & Field Leadership (35%)

The Director is accountable for transforming implementation and outcome data into actionable knowledge that strengthens Urban Assembly's practice and advances the broader field of social‑emotional learning.

Success in this area includes:

  • Generate evidence about effective implementation by identifying the implementation conditions most strongly associated with improved educator practice and student SEL outcomes.
  • Develop Urban Assembly's organizational knowledge base by translating implementation findings into frameworks, tools, implementation guidance, and best practices that improve program quality across the organization.
  • Contribute to the broader field of SEL by disseminating evidence, implementation insights, and practitioner guidance through publications, conference presentations, and strategic partnerships.
  • Shape future program strategy by using implementation and outcome evidence to identify emerging opportunities for innovation, research, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in the field experience preferred
  • 3+ years of non profit experience and/or equivalent adult development work preferred

Role and Responsibilities

This position is accountable for safe operation of company owned crew boat and will direct the day-to-day operations as well as coordinate onboard activities including operating engines, steering, and maintaining and repairing the vessel.
