Role and Environment

BJC Medical Group is seeking a board-certified Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician for a Teaching Hospitalist position at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, the largest community-based hospital with BJC Medical Group. This is a teaching hospitalist role involving supervision and collaboration within a hospital setting.

Position Highlights

  • Teaching position
  • Oversee a team of two interns
  • 7 patient census per intern (maximum)
  • 12-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
  • Closed, 30-bed ICU
  • EMR: EPIC

Preferred Experience

  • Teaching beyond residency
  • 2–5 years of hospitalist medicine experience

Responsibilities

  • Manages the medical care of patient panels by providing or arranging inpatient hospital care for patients, including rounds and coverage with hospitalists or other qualified physicians in accordance with Medical Staff requirements.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and care team members to ensure excellent patient care outcomes at the clinic location(s) designated by BJC and any other BJC location as needed.
  • Performs and documents medical histories and physicals in the patient’s medical record as required by hospital medical staff bylaws.
  • Provides or arranges for call coverage for clinic patients and inpatient call coverage in a manner acceptable to BJC and in accordance with Medical Staff bylaws, while following all BJC policies and procedures and applicable legal, ethical, and professional standards.
  • Collaborates and teaches advanced practice providers, support staff, or any care team members assigned to the patient panel.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
