Position Highlights

  • The Hospital Medicine Division at Baystate Health consists of over 250 dedicated physicians & APPs practicing evidence-based medicine throughout our 4 hospitals in western MA.
  • Baystate Medical Center, our 716‑bed flagship hospital in Springfield, MA, is a level 1 trauma center and tertiary care center. Our hospitalists also provide services at our community hospitals which are within a 20–45‑minute radius.
  • We offer a 7on/7off schedule, 10‑hour shifts split between Baystate Medical Center and our three community sites. Excellent support from swing shift and nocturnist providers.
  • Our hospitalists are responsible for more than 40,000 discharges annually system wide across all medical and surgical subspecialties, accounting for more than 250,000 encounters throughout our four hospitals.

Qualifications

ABMS BE/BC in internal medicine. We seek physicians dedicated to a hospital medicine career. Hospitalist experience strongly preferred.

Compensation

Hospital Medicine: $233,000 - $390,000

Primary Responsibilities

  • Performs physical assessments on patients with specialized conditions

Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $360,000 to $672,500. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. Position Summary

The Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina is seeking applications for a full‑time surgical oncologist to join our Division of Surgical Oncology. This position is being recruited as an open‑rank, open‑track appointment at an FTE between 0.5 and 1.0 FTE. The faculty member will be expected to perform both clinical and research duties, along with the academic responsibilities of an educational institution. While this is an open‑rank position, we seek applicants with significant experience in open and minimally‑invasive surgery for cancers of the liver, biliary tree and pancreas.

The Division of Surgical Oncology is among the nine clinical divisions in the Department of Surgery. It currently includes 16 faculty members and 10 advanced practice providers who provide a broad array of clinical services to deliver the highest quality multidisciplinary care for our oncology patients. The division is also actively involved in leading and contributing to our extensive portfolio of clinical and translational research and educational missions, through collaboration with the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Faculty members within the Division of Surgical Oncology are expected to commit to the department’s three missions: clinical care, education, and research. Clinical responsibilities include participation in multidisciplinary care, tumor boards, and surgical support of oncology programs. Faculty members are expected to regularly participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. In research, a commitment to any one of a broad array of interests—oncology clinical trials, outcomes, health services, basic science, translational, ethics, education, or global surgery research—is critical. The selected candidate will be professional, team‑oriented, and able to interact well with colleagues inside and outside the division.

Education & Experience Requirements

MD or equivalent. Fellowship trained in surgical oncology or hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Preference to applicants with previous experience caring for patients with HPB malignancies.
  • Proficient in robotics and minimally‑invasive surgery is also preferred.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long‑term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley‑sponsored benefit programs.
