Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of Position

Under general supervision, serves as a licensed, independent practitioner responsible for planning, coordinating, delivering and managing comprehensive psychiatric and mental health care services in a health care setting. Ensures patient and family-centered quality care to improve outcomes and patient experience, in accordance with applicable NYC Health + Hospitals policies and procedures, state and federal rules and regulations and nursing standards of care.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provides continuous comprehensive psychiatric and mental health nursing care, including preventive and supportive health care services to psychiatric patients and their families.
  • Manages acute and chronic mental health problems and coordinates health care for psychiatric patient population. Identifies and diagnoses illnesses and physical conditions, and implements therapeutic and corrective measures.
  • Consistent with the established nursing practice, differentiates between normal and abnormal findings in the screening process to detect changes in health status that require physician’s intervention.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with community-based organizations and makes referrals to consulting physicians and/or other health care professionals and community agencies, as necessary.
  • Evaluates and interprets patient data, in order to plan and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Consults with physicians and other health care practitioners in the evaluation of health screening findings to make prospective decisions about treatment that will best support improved outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Formulates differential diagnosis and the plan of care based on medical history, physical exams, nursing assessment and other pertinent information. Identifies health and medical risks and needs.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates patient plan of care. Determines effectiveness and modifies as per clinical standards and practice protocols, where needed, to achieve medical and health goals.
  • Orders, conducts, and interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests. Identifies and may prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions and therapies.
  • Manages a patient session schedule allowing for both scheduled and non-emergent unscheduled visits; maintains a work schedule that ensures availability and continuity of care; ensures optimal availability and utilization of appropriate resources.
  • Provides education, guidance, and direction to psychiatric nursing staff and other appropriate members of the health care team to ensure quality and safe medical and nursing care is provided.
  • Provides education and counseling to psychiatric patients and their families regarding health status, treatment and progress, medication management, disease prevention and health promotion, records and maintains a system of relevant documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

Providence Alaska Medical Center is seeking a full or part time Fellowship trained, Board Certified or Board Eligible Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician to join a well-established practice located in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska. Our practice is primarily outpatient with daytime coverage for hospital consultation and consultative coverage at nights and on weekends. Weekend call coverage is shared between several MFM specialists in Anchorage. Our full-service, referral-based practice offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. We provide prenatal diagnostic procedures including ultrasounds, amniocentesis, CVS, fetal echocardiography, and intrauterine procedures.

The schedule is a typical workweek, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm with 32 patient facing hours per week. The selected candidate will join one MFM physician with over 20+ years of experience, one genetic counselor, two OB-certified Sonographers, one RN Case manager, CMA, and support staff. The MFM clinic is AIUM-certified in all OB exams and Fetal Echocardiography utilizing GE E10's with Viewpoint.

The practice utilizes Epic EMR. Support includes the only Level III NICU in the state that provides 24-hour comprehensive specialty care for premature and high-risk infants delivered at PAMC or transported to PAMC NICU, as well as the sickest of full-term infants. On-site Pediatric Surgery and Cardiology, 24-hour Anesthesia, and Radiology.

Psychiatrists at RPC are part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive, patient-centered, and holistic team-based care to individuals with mental illness 18 years of age or older; including:

Physician, OB Hospitalist (Castro Valley, CA) at Sutter East Bay Medical Group. Opportunity Information: Seeking a BC/BE OBGYN to join our OBGYN hospitalist program at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, CA (Bay Area). Our OBGYN hospitalist service provides 24/7 in-house care at Eden Medical Center with one in-house provider at a time. Responsibilities include delivery attendance, OB triage, patient evaluation and management, surgical and OB delivery assists, fetal monitoring, ED coverage for OB and Gyn patients, gynecologic consults, and urgent/emergent gynecologic surgery. Our OBGYN hospitalists work collaboratively with local obstetricians who deliver at Eden Hospital and consult with MFM providers at our high-risk sister hospital in nearby Berkeley, CA to transfer high-risk or preterm patients. In-house pediatric hospitalist, trauma surgeon, anesthesiologist, adult medicine hospitalist, emergency medicine provider, and intensivist are available. Assistance for Cesareans and gynecologic cases is provided by the two private OBGYN groups that deliver at Eden. Emergency Cesarean assistance is provided by the trauma surgeon if no other OB is in house.

Responsibilities

  • Attend deliveries and provide OB triage and patient management.
  • Perform surgical and OB delivery assists; conduct fetal monitoring.
  • Provide ED coverage for OB and Gynecology patients; consult on gynecologic cases.
  • Coordinate with MFM providers for transfer of high-risk or preterm patients.
  • Collaborate with in-house specialists to support perioperative care.
