Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides comprehensive primary care to a panel of assigned patients using the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care delivery.
  • Interfaces with NON-VA providers (DoD and Community) to ensure smooth transitions in care.
  • Contributes to achieving performance measure clinical outcome targets in the area of access to care, quality of care, efficiency, process improvement, and patient satisfaction.
  • Prescribes medications and enters consults to specialty clinics utilizing electronic medical records systems.
  • Practices in accordance with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to excellent service.
  • Completes clinical reminders for chronic disease management and prevention when due.
  • Completes progress notes, encounters, secure messages, and views alert notifications according to VHA timeliness standards.
  • Provides and coordinates clinical related employee health services working in conjunction with the Human Resources department.
  • Assists in completing Environmental Agents Registry exams.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in practice, planning, and self-direction in goal setting for managing each veteran's medical needs, pursuant to scope of practice for Primary Care (PA-C).
  • Communicates and treats customers (veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
  • Provides customers with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.
  • Handles conflict and problems in dealing with customers constructively and appropriately.
  • Protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy; protect the data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion; follow applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc., as set out in the computer access agreement signed by the incumbent.
  • Uses word processing software to execute several office automation functions such as storing and retrieving electronic documents and files; activating printers; inserting and deleting text, formatting letters, reports, and memoranda; and transmitting and receiving e-mail. Uses the Veterans Health Information and Technology Architecture (VistA) to access information in the Medical Center Computer System.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and clean exam rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are ready
  • Assist with training and mentoring new personnel and students

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist
  • Satisfactory completion of formal technology training in an AMA approved school, registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

    Position

    Senior Availability / Reliability Engineer leads availability modeling, reliability analysis, and mitigation planning for our behind-the-meter (BTM) power solutions and site-specific conditions. This role partners with engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations to identify risks early, define mitigations, and ensure designs and operating models meet target availability and resiliency.

    How you will make a difference

    The successful candidate will have experience and practical expertise in the following:

    • Own availability and reliability analysis for BTM power solutions across a variety of technologies such as gas reciprocating engines, turbines, fuel cells, batteries, and site deployments (fault trees, reliability block diagrams, Monte Carlo or scenario modeling as appropriate).
    • Define availability targets and performance assumptions; align with customer requirements and Fleet’s uptime objectives.
    • Identify single points of failure and operational risks; recommend design, controls, procedural, or spares mitigations.
    • Partner with engineering teams to validate redundancy strategies, maintainability, and test/maintenance windows that preserve service availability.

    • Collaborate with vendors and operations teams on maintenance strategies, spares/critical parts planning, and reliability-centered maintenance principles.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or similar).

    Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner - Gastroenterology/Hepatology

    Function as an Advanced Practice Nurse and change agent incorporating the primary role of nurse practitioner and the supporting roles of consultant, educator, researcher and administrator to support quality care and positive patient outcomes for adult Gastroenterology patients.

    Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
    • Assure clinical competency and expertise in area of specialization.
    • Function independently and/or as a member of an interdisciplinary team to plan, deliver and evaluate health care for motility disorder patients.
    • Collaborate with nursing staff/nursing administration to monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care.
    • Determine nursing care requirements and develop programs for motility disorder patients, with regard to patient condition and age, and follow universal precautions.
    • Promote health maintenance that spans the continuum of health from outpatient to inpatient settings and back to the home care arena.
    • Perform medical diagnostic, therapeutic procedures, and prescribe, dispense or deliver medications when a collaborative practice agreement is in place.
    • Preform procedure consent and history and physicals (H&P) in DHC procedure unit as desired.
    • Maintain responsibility for obtaining patient history and physical, and obtaining procedure consents in the Digestive Health Center procedure unit.
    • Provide anticipatory guidance and counseling to patients/families.
    • Document patient assessment and plan of care in the medical record and generate appropriate health reports for outgoing correspondence.
    • Initiate and coordinate referrals to other health care team members or agencies.
    • Serve in a consultative resource capacity by providing expert knowledge and behavioral skills that impact clinical practice and patient outcomes.
    • Participate in the development, utilization and evaluation of resources to meet patient/family educational needs.
    • Provide education and serve as a resource for nursing staff in area of clinical expertise.
    • Provide education to external agencies, community and other health professionals.
    • Generate research questions regarding health care for particular patient populations.
    • Incorporate research findings into practice.
    • Participate in development and implementation of divisional and departmental quality assessment/improvement/research programs and processes.
    • Responsible for administrative activities and special projects as assigned.
    • Contribute toward the achievement of divisional and departmental goals.
    • Participate and contribute to activities that enhance clinical expertise and nursing knowledge.
    • Participate in professional nursing activities in the department, hospital, community and professional organizations.
    • Establish and maintain standards of collaborative interaction among peers and employees that is characterized by respect, honesty and service; assure that all unit members are held to similar standards and ethics; constructively manages conflict.
    • Inspire and motivate others to high performance by exercising strong stewardship of University resources, setting expectations, measuring success through individual performance evaluations, and driving organizational results.
    • Identify opportunities for and creates development plans that encourage employees to attend to the growth of their personal and professional capacity; engage self and staff in collective reflection of the University’s greater role in society.
    Qualifications
    • A Master's degree is required. A Master's degree in Nursing is preferred. If Master's degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.
    • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
    • Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.
    • Demonstrated experience in area of clinical practice is required.
    • Demonstrated experience in GI is desired.
