RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Health is seeking highly skilled and talented pediatric intensivists to join our group. Intensivists with secondary interests and training should apply (Cardiac critical care, Neurocritical care, ECMO, Burn, etc). The partnership of RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey, has created the largest integrated healthcare system in New Jersey. We are seeking to continue to grow and expand the care at our four acute care children’s centers as part of the largest provider of pediatric healthcare in New Jersey.

Job Summary
The Physician’s primary job function is to be responsible for provision of comprehensive primary care or subspecialty services for the patients of Columbia Valley Community Health. The Physician works independently and interdependently with other clinic providers.
Job Specific Competencies
1. Provides comprehensive and continuous medical care services within scope of medical specialty, including sanctioned non-clinic sites such as nursing homes, patient home, school-based clinics, mobile clinics, and tele-health settings.
2. Provides consultation to other clinic providers either in person or by telephone.
3. Consults with clinic Physicians, Specialists, Pharmacists, Nurses, or other health care professionals as appropriate.
4. Assesses patient needs for specialty referrals, diagnostic and in-patient care and makes appropriate referrals for service.
5. Participates in shared call system with other providers as appropriate.
6. Participates in hospital duties with other providers in keeping with hospital's medical staff privileges and membership expectations, as appropriate.
7. Participates in development and utilization of CVCH practice guidelines and procedures.
8. Participates in audits and meets standards of CVCH Quality Improvement and Risk Management programs.
9. Responsible for accurate, timely, and complete documentation in patient records.
10. Responsible for accurate and timely completion of billing documents.
11. Performs minor outpatient procedures in accordance with CVCH privileges.
12. Provides patients and family members with counseling and education regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and need for follow up as appropriate during each patient visit. 15. Attends all required staff meetings, provider meetings, and participates in CVCH committees as directed by Medical Director.

17. Participates in the education of health professionals in training, and professional oversight, when asked.

Job Specifications
1. Education: Graduation from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy. Must be Board Eligible/Certified. If new graduate must become certified within two years of employment date.

2. Certification/Licensure: Must possess a current, valid unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Washington or eligible to obtain licensure. Must have a valid DEA license. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. ACLS or ATLS may be used to substituted for BLS. All Providers must be eligible for enrollment in Medicare and must not be currently opted out of the Medicare program

3. Experience: Experience working in a community health center or managed care environment preferred. Experience in delivering services to medically underserved populations preferred.

5. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: A high degree of organization and accuracy. Good eye/hand coordination and precision, manual dexterity and patience. Perform complex and comprehensive medical care on a variety of patients. Must demonstrate ability to work with basic computer skills and MS Office products, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to work in a fast-paced and often high-stress environment as well as the ability to adapt quickly to workload changes. Ability to apply basic statistical and mathematical concepts to patient data, test results and other related information.

6. Interpersonal Skills: Attuned to the unique needs of the indigent and under-served populations with practice emphasis placed on rural medicine needs. Must demonstrate leadership and team building skills. Must have strong listening, written and oral communication skills, with ability to communicate clearly. Must have the ability to understand and respond effectively and with sensitivity to appropriate age spectrums. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Work with various cultural and ethnic groups in a tactful and efficient manner. Ability to work at all site locations with diverse staff as needed.

7. Essential Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. The ability to distinguish letters and symbols, as well as the ability to utilize telephones, computer terminals, and copiers is required. Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items. Ability to help transfer patients. Requires working under stress in emergency situations and irregular hours.

8. Essential Mental Abilities: On a continuous basis, know and understand all aspects of the job; intermittently analyze work papers, reports and special projects; identify and interpret technical and numerical information; observe and problem solve operational and technical policies and procedures; explain medical procedures. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.Successful completion of a Physician Assistant program Licensure as Physician Assistant and state DEA license to prescribe medications Current prescriptive authority and collaborative agreement with oversight physician(s) should also be in place Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges • Ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, presentation programs, and other software relevant to the job • Regularly communicates clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing (Utilizing SBAR technique) • Communicates with internal customers such as, physicians, multi-disciplinary team, finance, management and external customers such as, patients, third party payers, community agencies on a daily basis and often simultaneously Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time. The job produces some physical demands. Typical of jobs that include regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects. • Concurrent Clinical Management • Coordinates care with the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate implementation of patients’ progress towards outcomes, which includes discharge or transfer of care. Acts as a clinical resource for the multi-disciplinary team. This is accomplished by: o Assertive coordination among the multi-disciplinary team o Identifying common patient complications and utilizes appropriate preventative measures. o Assisting in the development and integration of quality measures/evidence into clinical practice. Utilization Review: • Performs an initial comprehensive assessment of the patient to determine if the patient requires a higher intensity of service and requires transfer to a hospital setting. This is accomplished by: o Applying knowledge of regulatory and third party payor criteria. o Utilization Management o Facilitating timely discharges/transfers to the appropriate level of care.
