An Advanced Practice Provider functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. We are currently searching for two Advanced Practice Providers, preferably with experience, to join our Acute Care Surgery Team at Rex UNC Health for evening and nighttime shifts. The role is primarily for consults and inpatient care, but will include some 1st assisting in the operating room; no outpatient clinic or call outside of the hospital. The ideal applicant will be able to multitask and manage a large census of inpatients with a vast array of acute (and some chronic) general surgery issues. Consult-heavy. The applicant should be comfortable working and communicating effectively with multiple providers, hospital staff, and consulting departments. This position is shift-work, hours as below (can be somewhat flexible with the evening APP). This is a service in our hospital that operates on a 24/7 basis with at least one (if not two APPs) and one MD during the day, and one MD at night. The goal is to increase APP coverage during the peak hours of evening weeknights and weekend nights. Weekend and overnight shift differentials do apply.

The evening APP hours will be 5pm to 3am, with some room for flexibility if the candidate is the right fit. This would be 4 x 10 hour shifts, Monday through Thursday. There is no call outside of the hospital.

The nighttime APP hours will be 7pm to 7am, Friday/Saturday/Sunday. This role will also include phone call coverage for other established services within NC Surgery. There is no call outside of the hospital.

Responsibilities:

2. Education- Appropriately and professionally educates clients and/or families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow-up. Collaborates with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity and patient/family centered care. Develops educational materials based on learning needs of clinicians, staff, and students. 3. Education Requirements:
Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina.
Board certification if required by the Department. DEA.
