Medical Imaging Radiologic Technologist - Full Time Nights

POSITION SUMMARY

To provide high quality imaging procedures to our patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner while providing those services in a safe and clean environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training
Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology and subsequent Accreditation through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Must be in compliance with CE Requirements.
BLS is required within 90 days of hire.


Workplace Experience

Preference of one year work experience in hospital after graduation and accreditation; however, willing to train.

Equipment and Skills Training

Possesses general knowledge of many types of x-ray equipment and computers. Will train on specific equipment and processes utilized at Williamson Health.In addition, has had previous training in fluoroscopy, surgery, and routine studies and willing to perform those functions daily.

Physical Environment

Radiation safety and universal precautions practiced in a multi modality imaging department.

Physical Effort

Possesses the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operate equipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs and stretchers to table; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day to day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families, and physicians.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  1. Checks patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request before proceeding with study.
  2. Questions female patients (ages 12-50) regarding the possibility of pregnancy and properly documents information in record.
  3. Questions all patients who receive intravenous contrast media and documents information regarding allergies and medical history.
  4. Provides proper radiation safety protection for all persons, to include self. Follows ALARA, IMAGE GENTLY AND IMAGE WISELY.
  5. Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring the patient is properly covered at all times; during exam and patient transport.
  6. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime periods and always makes good use of time.
  7. Checks often on patients waiting in hallways to ensure that the patient is covered and comfortable (Pain Management).
  8. Shows leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makes appropriate decisions.
  9. Volunteers for overtime and fill-in when needed.
  10. Ensures the safety of patients by following all safety procedures while moving patients from wheelchair or stretcher to table and observing patient while on radiology table.
  11. Performs high quality studies consistently.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:
Earned a degree/certificate from an accredited Echocardiography program. Must be registered or registry eligible in Echocardiography. Proficient in performing TEE studies, stress echo studies, and use of contrast.

  • Fit patients for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as directed by Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner.
  • Provide patient education regarding use of the appropriate DME.
  • Provide troubleshooting services to patients who have questions regarding their prescribed DME products.
  • Responsible for entering charges for DME that is dispensed into the Electronic Medical Records system.
  • Use of DonJoy's MotionMD system for inventory tracking, and set up Rental agreements and tracking systems.
  • Triage/multi-task based on needs and priority of a high volume clinic.
  • Insure that all necessary documentation and authorization is obtained as it relates to payer requirements.
  • Attend to patients post operatively to dispense post-op required equipment and educating depending on the physicians order and prescription.
  • Observes universal precautions.
  • Communicates effectively with patients/families and the clinical team in a manner that promotes positive working relationships.
  • Maintains work area and personal appearance in a way that reflects professionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitors and coworkers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderliness and safety.
  • Duties also included any other requests from the DME Coordintors, CEO, ClinicManager or Coordinator, Physicians, Clinical staff and patients that included problem solving, critical thinking, and ensuring the clients are always satisfied.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:

  1. High school graduate.
  2. Must respond to the hospital within thirty minutes for “on call” requirements.
  3. Previous scrub tech experience or graduate of scrub tech school
  4. Earned a Surgical Technology diploma or degree from a college or university or has 18 months experience prior to July 1, 2006
  5. Current certification through NBSTSA or equivalent, within 6 months of employment

Equipment and Skills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of setting. Equipment for the following surgical specialties: general, AEM; genitourinary, lithotripsy; ophthalmologic/Phacoemulsification/I&A; plastic; orthopedic/Andrews table/total joint replacement/Captain’s Chair/ spinal fixation cases; ENT; obstetric/gynecologic; vascular; oral; Amsco Flash Autoclave; Network computer system, Omnicell Medication System, AT&T Language Line.

Physical Environment:
A surgical unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age> ninety-nine plus years of age.

Physical Effort:

  1. Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
  2. Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day.
  3. Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
  4. Requires the ability to lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  1. Collaborates with appropriate surgical team members to effectively coordinate the delivery of patient care in a timely manner.
  2. Anticipates and provides equipment and supplies in a timely manner and organized manner based on the needs of the patient and surgeon.
  3. Creates and maintains a sterile field by using principles of aseptic practice in varying situations, initiates corrective action when break in technique occurs, communicates/documents maintenance of sterile field.
  4. Handles/ transports/ prepares medications/ solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  5. Performs counts by following established policy and procedures, initiates corrective action when counts are incorrect, and communicates results of counts.
  6. Assists with control of the OR Suite environment (temperature, humidity, and sensory) maintain traffic patterns, and adheres to OR sanitation policies.
  7. Return equipment and supplies to proper place and prepare OR room for next case.
  8. Demonstrates responsibility for cost containment using supplies judiciously and documents patient charges completely and accurately.
  9. Maintain position specific qualification
  10. Facilitates staff development, assists with the orientation and training of new personnel, and participates in the development of educational program for co-workers.
  11. Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communication.
  12. Returns promptly from breaks and gives breaks as needed.
  13. Completes special assignments, pulls cases that are add-ons and prepares for the next day.
