Performance Marketing Director
Samsung
Los Angeles, CA

Performance Marketing Director

Samsung TV Plus is a subscription-free streaming service built into Samsung devices. As a leader in FAST with more than 100 million monthly active users, Samsung TV Plus offers thousands of shows and movies on-demand all in one place. The streaming service carries over 5,000 ad-supported linear channels across 30 countries and is accessible exclusively on active Samsung devices.

The Performance Marketing Director is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Global Marketing and PR, with full accountability for strategy development, hands-on execution, in-market quality, and performance results. The Director has a Global remit and owns the Samsung TV Plus performance marketing engine paid and general media strategies across display, programmatic, and video; performance measurement and attribution; the marketing tech stack; and the Samsung TV surface promotion partnership (Home surface, on-device inventory, CTV, and hardware-integrated campaigns coordinated with Samsung HQ).

We're looking for an experienced performance marketer with direct hands-on experience running paid media campaigns at meaningful spend levels, fluency in attribution methodology (marketing mix modeling, incrementality testing, lift studies), and a proven track record of contributing to service-level growth metrics such as MAU, retention, and hours of viewing. Experience at a streaming service SVOD, AVOD, or FAST is a strong plus. The right candidate is numerate, data-driven, ops-minded, hands-on, and comfortable partnering across Brand and Lifecycle Marketing, Content, PR, Product, and Creative functions to deliver performance outcomes.

In the first 12 months, this role will complete a performance marketing audit and publish the FY27 performance plan, ship the first fully-automated display ads program at scale, deliver measurable marketing-attributable contribution to MAU growth, and partner with Samsung Ads and Samsung TV HQ counterparts to accelerate the on-device promotional roadmap.

FAST is the fastest-growing video segment amongst consumers. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of an exploding and ever-evolving media landscape and will play a key role in driving the growth of the Samsung TV Plus business.

Skills and Qualifications

Own the Samsung TV Plus performance marketing playbook paid, earned, and owned media strategy, measurement, and optimization across display, programmatic, retargeting, video, Samsung TV surfaces, and owned channels.

Design and run always-on performance programs that contribute measurably to MAU and HOV, leveraging Samsung's media product inventory.

Own the demand-generation funnel dashboard impressions, CTR, CPA, LTV, cohort retention, and contribution to MAU and HOV.

Own attribution onboarding and methodology in partnership with Insights and Analytics, including marketing mix modeling, incrementality testing, and lift studies.

Manage the marketing tech stack DSP integrations, audience segmentation, analytics platforms, and A/B testing infrastructure.

Report MAU and HOV marketing contribution monthly to leadership.

Partner with Product, Samsung Ads, and Samsung TV HQ counterparts on on-device promotion, Home surface placements, and hardware-integrated campaigns.

Advance AI-native marketing operations within performance creative testing at speed, budget-allocation modeling, and audience-signal enrichment.

Partner on performance creative testing frameworks, variant rotation, and creative refresh cadence.

Partner on the acquisition-to-retention handoff and cohort tracking through the funnel.

Partner with the PR & Communications Director on amplifying earned moments through paid channels.

Collaborate on technical SEO infrastructure schema, structured data, site performance, and search analytics.

Publish and maintain regional performance marketing playbooks for teams across EMEA, LATAM, and APAC.

Manage media buying agency relationships, third-party attribution tooling, and budget allocation.

Act as the quality owner for all performance marketing executions in-market regular auditing of live creative, media placements, and funnel surfaces to ensure brand consistency, measurement rigor, and strategic alignment.

Accountable for strategy, execution, and results across the performance marketing function from annual planning through in-market delivery to monthly performance readouts.

Qualifications

12+ years in performance marketing, growth marketing, or demand-generation roles.

Direct hands-on experience running programmatic, display, and DSP campaigns at meaningful spend levels.

Fluency in attribution methodology marketing mix modeling, incrementality testing, lift studies.

Experience partnering with marketing operations, automation, or martech infrastructure teams understands the difference between owning the platform and owning the strategy that runs on it.

Proven track record contributing to service-level growth metrics MAU, MAU / DAU ratio, retention, hours of viewing, or equivalent watch-time metrics.

Experience at a streaming service (SVOD, AVOD, FAST) or consumer service where MAU and retention are core metrics is a strong plus.

Numerate comfortable owning P&L conversations. Understands unit economics and can defend a decision with data.

Ops-minded thinks in systems and cycles. Weekly optimization cadence, monthly reviews, and quarterly re-plans are natural.

The ability to synthesize data across a complex media mix to optimize efforts.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with leadership effectively.

Experience with leveraging and integrating AI tools and automation in marketing workflows is a strong plus.

Comfortable as a senior individual contributor owns strategy, execution, and quality assurance end-to-end without a team to delegate to. Does not need direct reports to deliver.

Proactive quality orientation audits live work rather than waiting for issues to surface. Views creative and campaign quality as part of the performance measurement discipline, not a separate function.

Growth Strategy & Acquisition

  • Own the Acquisition Roadmap: Set the channel mix, the testing plan, and the sequence. Meta first, expanding across channels as we learn what works and where the audience actually is.
  • Own CAC and Payback: Carry the acquisition number and the economics under it. Decide what we spend, where it goes, when to push, and when to stop.
  • Build the Operating Model: Decide where media buying sits, agency or in house, and change it when the stage changes. Build the test and learn cadence that makes those decisions repeatable.

Team & Creative

  • Build the Team: Lead and grow the growth function, starting with the Creative Strategist and extending into lifecycle and media as the business supports it.
  • Hold the Creative Pipeline to Performance: Creative diversity is now the primary lever on the platforms. Set what gets tested, how tests are structured, and what the results mean for what gets made next.
  • Own Lifecycle and Retention: Build the onboarding, engagement, and renewal program that makes a membership business work, and bring in the specialist hire when the volume justifies it.

Site, Measurement & Economics

  • Own the Site as a Growth Surface: Own conversion, the offer, and the roadmap for what the site needs to do. Execution runs through a shared web resource, so clear specification and influence matter more than direct control.
  • Direct the Measurement Stack: The infrastructure will be in place, including CAPI, tag management, and the CDP. Your job is to define what it has to answer and to turn what it says into decisions.
  • Work the Economics: Model the relationship between CAC, payback, and lifetime value. Early cohort work is directional and shared with leadership until a dedicated analytics function is in place.

Qualifications

We are seeking a growth leader who has built an acquisition engine from zero and thinks in lifetime value rather than first-order return.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: 8+ years in growth or performance marketing for consumer (B2C) brands, with hands-on direct-to-consumer (DTC) experience and time spent leading teams and agency partners.
  • Built, Not Only Scaled: Has started an acquisition program rather than inherited one. Has set a first CAC target without historical data to anchor it, and been right enough to keep going.
  • Thinks in Lifetime Value: Comfortable with CAC to LTV modeling, cohort behavior, and payback windows. Subscription, membership, replenishment, or any consumer business with real retention economics all count. An instinct for how value gets priced and packaged is a plus. What doesn't work here is optimizing to first-order ROAS.
  • Strategic and in the Details: Not the person in Ads Manager every day, but close enough to the platform to spec a test, read the result, and know when an agency is wrong.
  • Technically Fluent: Comfortable directing a martech and measurement stack without needing to implement it. Knows what to ask of it, and what to do with what comes back.
  • Comfortable with Ambiguity: Can build while the brand, the positioning, and the claims framework are still being settled. Makes progress on partial information and changes direction when decisions land.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partners closely with product marketing, brand and creative, product, ecommerce, CX, and finance.

Location : This is an on-site, office-based role in Tustin, CA.

Salary : Starting at 190K

Perks and Benefits

  • 100% covered Medical/Dental/Vision insurance for employee AND spouse + dependents!
  • 401K with 4% employer match (eligible after 90 days of employment) and immediate 100% vesting
