The Orlando Health Cancer Institute is seeking a BE/BC Surgical Oncologist for an exceptional leadership opportunity as Medical Director of the Cutaneous Oncology Program. Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital is a comprehensive acute care facility representing the next phase of growth for Orlando Health and its Lake Mary campus.

Duties:

Federal Retirement Plan:

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • The physician serves as medical director for skilled nursing facilities (SNF) and participates in administrative and quality initiatives for the facilities he or she is responsible for;
  • Medical directorship functions include attending and participating in monthly quality assurance and process improvement meetings; participating in quality improvement initiatives; providing guidance to facility staff; reviewing and revising (if necessary) facility s clinical guidelines; insuring compliance with state and federal regulations, training facility staff; and supervising facility clinical staff.
  • In addition to the medical director role, the physician also serves as the attending physician for the residents residing at each facility;
  • The physician collaborates with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to manage day to day resident care at each facility. Typically, each facility will have a full-time PA or NP assigned to the facility depending on the acuity and volume of the patient population;
  • Physician will provide high quality, patient-centered, comprehensive primary care services by rounding on patients residing in SNFs;
  • Physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with acute illness, such as bacterial and viral infections, as well as chronic diseases and conditions, such as hypertension, heart disease, or diabetes
  • Provider documentation is completed in Theoria s proprietary electronic health record (EHR) system, ChartEasy
  • PointClickCare, MatrixCare, and American HealthTech are the most commonly used facility EHR systems
  • Participating in Theoria s Chronic Care Management, Transitional Care, RPM and other medical quality initiatives and programs
  • Physician must be able to supervise collaborating nurse practitioners and physicians assistants
  • Physician must be able to utilize electronic/online medical tools such as EHR systems and state/county medical systems utilized for Death Certificates and administrative functions.

Shift Structure

  • Shifts are flexible depending on physicians schedule;
  • Typically, medical directors work a minimum of 2-3 days/week at each facility they oversee;
  • Rounding times are flexible with no set start and end time. Preferably, physicians start in the morning between 7-10 a.m. and finish their day when their caseload has been seen;
  • No nights, or on-call
  • Call is covered by Theoria's virtual care team
  • This is an in-person position

This is an opportunity for an outstanding academic clinician who would be interested in building distinctive clinical programs within the Division and contributing to the academic mission of the Department.
The Division of Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery is experiencing a period of clinical and academic growth under the leadership of Dr. Olivia Cardenas-Trowers, a recognized leader in gynecologic surgery and
translational research. The Division is seeking an excellent board-certified/board-eligible fellowship-trained (2 years for Urology and 3 years for Gynecology) Urogynecologist and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgeon to join our academic practice.
Under the leadership of Dr. Rosanne Kho, the Department currently hosts 36 residents, 3 Maternal Fetal Medicine fellows, 2 Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery fellows , and 1 Addiction Medicine fellow. Faculty provide clinical services and mentor trainees at the Banner- University Medical Center (Phoenix), Scottsdale, Arcadia Clinic , and other Banner facilities. There is an opportunity to hire (2) Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgeons (1 Urologist and 1 Gynecologist) for a total of 3 in the Division with existing clinical support. Due to continued growth, plans are to start a Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery fellowship within the next 2-3 years.
Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited school
Eligible for Arizona State Medical Licensure
Board Certification/Board Eligibility through American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Urology or equivalent
Academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor
Strong Communication Skills
Must be viewed by stakeholders as a strong advocate for creating and balancing clinical, academic, and educational missions within the Division
Be a willing collaborator with colleagues outside of the Division
Responsibilities and highlights
Perform Urogynecologic and Gynecologic surgery
M anage full-spectrum female pelvic floor disorders
Provide residency and fellowship teaching in the outpatient and inpatient areas
Build Internal and external relationships to inspire collaborations across the health
system
Promote and provide a teaching environment of the highest quality and integrity
Initiate and contribute to clinical and research programs through innovation and
interdisciplinary collaboration
